I used pixlr to edit this photo. I changed the background to
black and white but I kept the artist more focused in the shot by keeping him
the same colour. This shows that he is the main focus of the picture and that
the background doesn’t matter as much as him. There is an attitude towards the
picture because he seems as if he doesn’t care, he’s just smoking away. There
is an element of arrogance and danger towards his personality.
This is good editing, Dave. I'd be tempted to experiment with light leaks or chemical burns as an effect as well, as the left hand side of the image (far left) is too empty. A splash of colour on the lhs may well help the overall feel of the image.
